October 11-14 | Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain
Mojo Swing Festival is the greatest swing dance event in the Canary Islands and it welcomes many local, national and international participants and top international teachers.

The third edition will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain) from 11 to 14 October 2018 and it'll offer 4 days of swing dancing in a unique environment thanks to our beautiful island's sunny warm weather and amazing landscape.

This year's edition includes Lindy Hop and Jazz Steps workshops for different levels and a Follower Pack for follows more focused on their own dancing and styling. There will be also plenty of time for leisure and outdoor activities, including two parties, open Jack & Jill, outdoor social dancing, tapas night, dancing on the beach and much more!
Peter Kertz
Peter Kertz began dancing the Lindy Hop in Los Angeles, where he was born and raised. The scene filled with inspiring dancers and a rich history of swing dancing dating back to the 1930s was enough for him to fall head over heels with swing. He soon began traveling the world to learn the different styles and voices that people were bringing to Lindy Hop today, and that was when he knew he was addicted to the dance and the amazing community that keeps this dance alive!

Today, while he lives in Montpellier, France, Peter travels to teach and perform Lindy Hop around the world. He sees the dance is a way of speaking the same language, regardless of the different places we come from. For him, the dance has always been a way of bringing people together through joyous expression, and in his teaching and dancing, he hopes to be a part of this rich tradition.
Elze Visnevskyte
Elze Visnevskyte comes from a vibrant dance scene in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since she was a kid Elze has been exploring a variety of dances - from old Renaissance to traditional folk dances. She has also spent a lot of time acting in the theatre so she takes a part of it to her dancing and improvisation. Dance for her is much more than leading and following, it is essentially a conversation with a partner and with the music. She values creativity and playfulness and spreads it to her students. You can recognize Elze from her contagious energy and loud laugh.

Elze has been traveling and teaching Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz in various festivals and workshops abroad as well as growing her local dance community where she is one of the owners of What a Jazz dance studio.
Laia Puig Azagra
Laia started dancing at the age of 6 and practieced Ballet, Contemporary and Flamenco daily. When she was 12 she started to practice and compete in Ballroom dances. At the age of 19 she didn't want to continue with the ballroom dances and she agreed to go with her parents to a Lindy Hop dance. She loved what she saw and immediately started to take Lindy Hop lessons, leaving the Ballroom dancing behind.

Now a full time dancer and teacher based in Stockholm, she is focusing her teaching on followers to have a strong rhythm and to actively take part in the dance. She constantly strives to improve her dancing and movement by working on her solo jazz dancing as much as her Lindy Hop. She tries to connect fun, rhythm and silliness in her dancing.

Laia likes to perform and compete both in Lindy Hop and solo dancing and has successfully taken part in many international competions, like The Snowball and ILHC.
Joris Focquaert
Joris Focquaert comes from Ghent, Belgium. He discovered the Lindy Hop in Copenhagen when he was studying at the Commedia School for mime & physical theatre. A background in the art of clowning, he takes this to his Jazz dances & dance performances, forming his attitude towards the dance. In class, Joris tries to share his best of ideas.

He is one of the starting figures of swing dance school 'Crazy Legs' (Ghent) & vernacular Jazz dance troupe 'the Dipsy Doodles'. Today he is a busy working dancer in Belgium & abroad, next to studying the Jazz trombone.
Parties & Activities
Apart from classes and workshops we'll have time to enjoy fun parties and outdoor activities.
MC Ivan Van Wassenhove
In all activities and parties we'll count on our amazing MC, Mr. Ivan Van Wassenhove, who will come again from Belgium to bring joy to the festival and help build the perfect atmosphere with his contagious energy and well-known sense of humour.

The Festival will start on Thursday 11th and there is not better way to do it than sliding our shoes in Vegueta, Las Palmas colonial-style old town.

After dancing in this emblematic quarter, we'll go for some delicious "pinchos" (small dishes of food) and glasses of good wine to gather strength for what is to come.
Opening Party
On Friday 12th we'll have the opening party so we can start warming up our bodies and minds for the intensive workshops and activities that teachers have prepared for you. Be ready for the Jack&Jill prelims and enjoy the teacher's presentation.
Big Party
The big party of the Festival will take place on Saturday 13th, when we will hold the Jack&Jill finals and other fun contests and games with awesome prizes. Don´t miss the teachers performance!

In both parties we'll enjoy the best live music with one of our local top bands and the best music selection in the after-party.
Swing for Fun
On Sunday 14th we'll close the Festival with the best views at Las Canteras Beach. We'll do Gender Bender, steal partners in a jam and other games in our last dance together this year.

What about a refreshing bath all together to close the Festival? Don´t forget to take a swimsuit and a towel with you for the Splash Out!
